EGYM

Smarter Workouts. Stronger Results.

EGYM smart strength machines take the guesswork out of training. After a quick strength assessment, each machine automatically adjusts to your optimal weight, range of motion, and pace—just tap in with your RFID wristband and go. A game-like interface keeps you on track, guiding your form and timing, while circuit mode ensures a full-body workout in under 20 minutes!

Different fitness goals require different workouts, and EGYM takes that into account and adapts settings based on your goal, progress, and body type making it an efficient and challenging workout for just about anyone!

EGYM IS INCLUDED FREE IN YOUR Y MEMBERSHIP!

HOW TO GET STARTED:

Complete a 20-30 minute onboarding session before using EGYM equipment for the first time.

To schedule your onboarding session, download the YMCA360 app, sign into your account, click “My Schedule” in purple, then select EGYM Reservations (make sure to select “All” at the top of the app). Then pick your date and time and hit reserve. See screen shots below:

After you’ve completed onboarding with a Fitness Associate at the Indian Land YMCA, Y members are free to use the EGYM machines! You will need your RFID wristband to use the equipment. (If you lose your wristband, replacement wristbands cost $10)

Physical requirements for the machines:

  • At least 15 years of age
  • 5’0″ tall to use the EGYM equipment
  • Minimum weight requirement is 110 lbs.
  • Maximum weight requirement is 330 lbs.

Also, please follow general YMCA membership policies and guidelines, found here.

EGYM is a system of equipment that guides you rep-by-rep through circuit workouts. During your onboarding, a Fitness Attendant will give you your free wristband and walk you through a strength assessment to find your optimal resistance settings. The YMCA Fitness Attendant will also set the machines to your proper range of motion.

The next time you show up, tap your wristband on the marked area and the machines will automatically set the weight level and range of motion for you. The smart equipment will adapt and progress you through a workout with an interactive screen. All your workouts are logged in to an app without any memorizing or guesswork needed.

Here’s a quick rundown after you complete the EGYM onboarding:

  1. Equipment is arranged circuit-style and numbered. Start your workout at the Chest Press marked “Start”, and swipe your wristband to follow the on-screen guidance.
  2. Complete each machine in order—do not perform multiple sets on the same equipment.
  3. After finishing a machine, move to the next one in sequence, following the circuit. Be aware that ALL members move machines at the same time.
    1. Orange phase = time to exercise.
    2. Blue phase = time to transition.
    3. Each interval lasts 110 seconds.
  4. For a full-body workout, complete two rounds of the circuit.
  5. When beginning your second round, please give priority to members starting their first round. If someone is waiting to begin at the Start Machine (Chest Press), allow them to merge in after you complete the circuit.
  6. Please sanitize all touch points (except touchscreens) after each use using the spray and paper towels provided.
  • EGYM hits all the major muscle groups. A variety of equipment is included in the circuit:

    • Chest press
    • Seated row
    • Ab crunch
    • Back extension
    • Leg curl

EGYM includes eight customized programs, each crafted to meet specific fitness and health objectives:

  • Weight Loss – Burn fat and manage body weight efficiently.
  • Muscle Building – Build muscle mass and improve bone density.
  • Athletic – Increase explosive strength and reduce fall/injury risk.
  • General Fitness – Enhance functional mobility and long-term health.
  • Rehab Fit – Low-intensity workouts to aid in rehabilitation and recovery.
  • Body Toning – Reduce body fat and define lean muscle.
  • Metabolic Fit – Improve muscular endurance and energy metabolism.
  • Immunity Boost – A progressive, gentle return to exercise after a break.

Within each program, EGYM features four distinct training methods that vary the feel of each workout. These methods adjust tempo, resistance, and reps to maintain focus while preventing monotony:

  • Regular – Uses a single weight with classic, steady rep speed.
  • Negative – Involves two weight levels: lighter on the lifting phase, heavier on the return, emphasizing muscle control.
  • Adaptive – Automatically lowers weight mid-set in response to muscle fatigue to help you finish each set safely.
  • Explonic – Designed for fast, explosive power movements.

EGYM also tracks your progress and growth with regular maximum strength assessments to ensure your training is personalized and progressive. Based on your performance, it automatically recalculates ideal weight loads and adapts your program accordingly. This ongoing recalibration stimulates steady improvement and helps you avoid training plateaus.
