Afterschool Care at the Y

The YMCA of Upper Palmetto is committed to providing the highest quality after school care possible. Our program is designed to enhance a child’s school day through activities such as homework support, filed trips, large and small group games, devotions and singing. We strive to develop the whole child through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Our afterschool programs serve over 600 children weekly, ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade.

Financial Assistance

The YMCA welcomes all who wish to participate and believes that no one should be denied membership or access to programs based on their ability to pay. With a commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the YMCA of Upper Palmetto ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

Thanks to funds from our annual campaign, we are able to provide scholarships for children and families in need of financial assistance and cannot afford the full cost of YMCA programs like afterschool. Approximately 1 in 3 children registered for afterschool receive some form of scholarship, totaling almost $20,000 a month. When summer day camp is included, YMCA of Upper Palmetto provides nearly $275,000 in childcare scholarships annually, none of which would be possible without individual and corporate donations.

The Y has been amazing for my family. It has allowed me to have trustworthy affordable childcare for my children after school and during summer/off days. My children absolutely love their counselors. They always have fun. The counselors continue to go above and beyond for my children to make them comfortable and to make them feel that when I'm at work. They get to socialize and have fun. They get help with homework and a lot of activity. I can't express how amazing the Y is.
