The U8 program encourages movement through soccer-related children’s games. A young player’s soccer experience should be a positive and fun one. Competitive pressures should be discouraged and players should be focused on the “everyone wins” theory. U8 players will be expected to be able to dribble with both feet, develop a soft first touch, and be comfortable shooting and passing. More importantly, they will have fun and develop a love for the game.

This is where motor skills are more refined. Children now can think in advance and begin to anticipate where the ball will be, as well as have the ability to stay at tasks longer. Children can identify with a team and begin to make friends. Socialization becomes very important. This is where “traditional” soccer is beginning as we transition to the 8v8 format with the addition of a Goalkeeper. Repetition of skills becomes very important.
