The U8 program encourages movement through basketball-related children’s games. A young player’s basketball experience should be a positive and fun one. Competitive pressures should be discouraged and players should be focused on the “everyone wins” theory. U8 players will be expected to be able to dribble with both hands and become comfortable with shooting and passing. More importantly, they will have fun and develop a love for the game.

This is where motor skills are more refined. More fouls happen here. Children now can think in advance and begin to anticipate where the ball will be, as well as have the ability to stay at tasks longer. Children can identify with a team and begin to make friends.
